The Multi-Grip Lockbolts offer an extra-large grip range, high shear strength and superior clamping force for applications requiring high strength metal to metal fastening. An advantage of the multi-grip lockbolts is that one multi-grip lockbolt can be used in place of several lengths of a conventional lockbolt due to the wider grip range. Assembly applications include: Automotive, Commercial Truck, Trailer, RV, General Purpose, Construction, Railway, Industrial. Lockbolts are a two-piece fastening system consisting of a pin and collar. During installation the collar is swaged into the pin creating a permanent, vibration proof connection. Lockbolts have many advantages over traditional nut and bolts: Lockbolts have as little as 5% variation in clamp load measurement, while traditional nuts & bolts have up to 40% variation in clamp load measurement (torque) The lockbolt pins and collars are swaged, which creates a permanent & vibration resistant bond. With traditional nuts & bolts the assembly may come loose with vibration and may need to be retightened.
